Conclusion

Using the "APP Mover" tool in Qiling Disk Master, you can easily and quickly move apps and folders in Windows. This feature is particularly useful in situations where you need to relocate apps and folders, such as when cleaning up your computer, organizing files, or transferring data to a new device. By following the steps outlined, you can efficiently move apps and folders, making it easier to manage your digital life.

  • The system drive is small and running out of space, with no larger drive to replace it. To free up space, applications and folders on C: can be moved to another hard drive.
  • Having too many applications and folders installed on the C: drive can slow down your computer. To improve performance, you can use this feature to move these applications and folders to a different drive, freeing up space and resources on the C: drive.

Besides, Partition Assistant also offers other useful features, such as migrating the OS to an SSD, resizing partitions, and more.

Notes:

  • To ensure the apps run properly, please refrain from moving or deleting files in the source and target directories.
  • You can see operation records of app movement in "Manage/Restore"-->"View Logs".
  • If you manually move the installation directory of moved applications, Qiling Disk Master may not be able to detect it. To fix this, select the app, then go to "Manage/Restore" and click "Repair Location" to re-load the current location, and then proceed with the restore.
  • After moving an application to a new location, you may still see a shortcut to the original installation directory. This shortcut does not occupy disk space and should not be deleted.

FAQs:

Q: The pop-up window "Moving the C: Users folder is not supported. Please select another folder." appears because the C: Users folder is a protected system folder in Windows. It contains user-specific files and settings, and moving it can cause system instability or even data loss.

A: The current system is unable to automatically move the "User" and "ProgramData" folders on your computer, which is necessary for system boot, application running, and maintaining data integrity.

Q: Some applications, such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Edge, and Adobe, cannot be launched normally after being moved with the feature "App Mover".

A: These proprietary programs may not work after migration, so it's best to restore them first and try opening them again.

Q: The operation failed with an error "Failed: Migration rollback failed, please contact support..." because the migration process encountered an issue that prevented it from rolling back successfully, requiring further assistance from the support team to resolve the problem.

A: If the application has been moved, restore it by clicking "Manage/Restore". If not, please provide the log folder for further analysis.

Q: The source disk used space is not reduced after a successful migration operation because the migrated data is still stored on the source disk, and the disk space is not reclaimed until the migration process is finalized and the source disk is cleaned up. This is typically done by running a final cleanup script or command, which removes any remaining data and frees up the disk space.

A: Please contact our support team, provide screenshots of the source drive space, and attach the "log" folder from the program's installation directory for further analysis of this issue.
