How to Access and Use Disk Cleanup in Windows 10?

About Disk Cleanup in Windows 10

Upgrading to Windows 10 has become a popular trend since its release, but many users are now facing a major issue: running out of storage space. As a result, they're unable to store new data, and their computers are slowing down, making it a pressing problem that needs to be addressed.

To free up disk space on Windows 10, you can use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool, which can help remove unnecessary files, delete temporary files, empty the Recycle Bin, and remove items you no longer need. To access Disk Cleanup, simply type "Disk Cleanup" in the Windows search bar, and then select the drive you want to clean up. From there, follow the prompts to select which types of files you want to delete and click "OK" to begin the cleaning process. This will help you quickly and easily free up disk space and keep your computer running smoothly. Additionally, you can also use other tools like CCleaner or Disk Cleanup by Microsoft to free up disk space.

How to run Disk Cleanup in Windows 10?

In Windows 10, you can remove unneeded files using Disk Cleanup, but it's different from older OSes. A new System compression option has been added, which compresses Windows binaries and program files to save space, especially useful when running low on space. However, this may take longer to read compressed files.

Clean disk in Windows 10 with third-party software

While the built-in Disk Cleanup tool in Windows 10 can free up space on your drives, its capabilities are limited. Fortunately, there are third-party tools that offer more flexibility in cleaning up disk space, such as Qiling Disk Master Standard, a partition manager that allows you to clean up disk space in a simple and straightforward manner.

Step1. To clean up disk in Windows 10, install and launch Qiling Disk Master, which will show you the basic environment of your drives. Select the drive you want to clean, then right-click it and select "Wipe Partition/Format Partition".

Tips: To completely clean up the entire hard drive, select the whole hard drive, right-click it, and choose "Wipe Hard Drive". However, note that wiping the hard drive within system files will prevent Windows from booting again.

Step2. Then, choose "Fill Sectors with Zero" .

Step3. After completing the operations, you can click "Proceed" to submit them all at once.

▪ When using Qiling Disk Master to clean up disks in Windows 10/8/7, be aware that it will delete all data on the drives. To avoid losing important data, back up or move those files to another partition/drive before proceeding with the disk cleanup. This way, you can wipe data without compromising your essential files.
▪ If you're using an SSD, you can securely erase it using the Secure Erase SSD Wizard in Qiling Disk Master Professional in a few simple steps, or you can recover lost data if needed.
▪ Qiling Disk Master is a partition manager that helps keep your hard drive in top shape, allowing you to resize partitions, merge them, and even clone your HDD to a faster SSD without losing data.
