This article applies to: Qiling Disk Master all editions
Introduction:
Under Windows or when booting from Disk Master bootable media, the drive may not be recognized as the source or destination location, resulting in incorrect drive selection.
Solution:
Running Qiling Disk Master under Windows
1. Please make sure the drive is listed under Windows Disk Management.
2. Check the drive type to ensure it's not an eMMC storage device, as Disk Master doesn't support it, which is commonly used in tablet PCs.
3. To verify if the drive has 4096 bytes per sector, you can install and run Partition Assistant, then right-click on a partition on the drive, select Properties, and then File System Info to check the sector size.
To check the system information in Windows, you can press the Windows key + R, type "msinfo32" in the Run box, and then open the System Information window. This will provide details about the system, including hardware, software, and other relevant information.
Storage-->Disks-->check the Bytes/sector of the drive.
Qiling Disk Master does not support backing up or cloning drives with 4096 bytes per sector, but it does allow saving backup files to those drives.
4. Please check if the drive is encrypted. If it is, decrypt it. Once decrypted, you can re-encrypt it.
5. To back up or clone a dynamic disk, you'll need to use System Backup or Partition Backup instead of Disk Backup/Disk Clone, and System Clone or Partition Clone instead of Disk Clone. This is because Disk Master doesn't support backing up or cloning dynamic disks using the original methods.
Running Qiling Disk Master in WinPE
The issue with WinPE is likely due to a missing driver for the RAID adapter, which can be resolved by creating a new WinPE disk and manually adding the necessary driver during the creation process.
