Factory reset for HERO 3/3+ (black and silver edition)
- To turn on the GoPro, press and hold the shutter button (the top button) until the camera lights up and the display turns on.
- To turn off the camera, while still holding the shutter button, press the power button on the front of the camera.
- The camera will now power on and it will reset to the original settings. The factory reset will restore the camera's firmware to its default state, which means all custom settings, including the Wi-Fi network and password, will be erased.
Reset HERO 4 to Factory Settings (black and silver edition)
- To access the setup menu on the camera, press the Mode button (front button) until the "Setup Gear" icon appears on the screen.
- Navigate to the setup screen (the gear icon).
- To select the menu item, press the Shutter button (the top button).
- Press the Mode button until "reset cam" is highlighted.
- Press the shutter button on the top of the camera and select the option "reset cam" from the menu.
- When your camera turns back on, it will return to its default settings.
Before resetting your GoPro to factory settings, make sure to back up all photos and videos on the camera, as a factory reset will erase all data.
